poova poova poove

was travelling by bus when I came over a poster for the film "Mercury Pookkal". haan?? we even have a song from Rakshagan - "Mercury Pookkal, modern nilakkal..."
there are a number of poos like these... but yaravadhu nejammave have seen these poos? nan fotola kooda indha poovellam pathadhilleenga!

we have "sendhoora poove, sendhoora poove..." from 16 vayadhinile (wow, what a song!!)

we have "sevvandhi poo yeduthen.. adhil un mugam parthirundhen..." from err.. some film with title 'gokulam'

then we have the big boss Shivaji singing "Malare, kurinji malare..." (ok this atleast i know exists for sure)

we have a whole movie titled "Aavaram Poo"

we have "oodha oodha oodha poo" - edho vijay padam.

then this "july malargalae..." - adhu yennanga july malargal? yedhellam july masam pookkum?

idhukkellam sethu vachi, ilaya thilagam has sung "pennalla pennalla oodha poo..." which has got a menu of various poos. (adha rambhakku padinadhu kodumaiyo kodumaingaradhu vera vishayam!)

But that gives a variety of songs associated with these flowers..

poo pookkum osai - gorgeous kajol chirping
poove sempoove - hmm... whatta melodious song. listen to this song at night to have a peaceful sleep
poovil vandu koodum - reminds me of a balakumaran's novel
poove poo choodava - touching one! bet chitra has done a great job
ovvoru pookkalume - nan sollave thevai illai
marghazi poove - a melody
poove vaay pesum podhu - 12B Simran - simply superb
poove unnai nesithen - yenga annan college padicha kalathula sema hit indha song. yedho juhi chawla nadicha padam (pona generationla yaravadhu update pannunga)

and there goes songs dedicated to specific flowers.. i think Jasmine is leading (not sure) but ippollam madrasla malli poo kedaikkaradhe illenga. konjamum fragrance illadha kattu malli dhan kedaikkudhu, adhuvum muzham 10 rupees.

Kadhal Rojave, yengae nee yengae - haay haay! whatta song!
Rosapoo chinna rosapoo - ok nice song.. adhukkaga padam mulukka indha patte vandhu savadikkum
chinna chinna roja poove - wow! touching song. yara irundhalum will cry for a minute.
malligai, yen mannan mayangum - indha pattukku mayangadhavanga yaarunga?
malligaiye malligaiye malaiyidum mannavan - pathetic choreography; ayyodannu heriones! gosh!
malligai mottu, manasa thottu - slow motionla kanagavum yaro orutharum aduvanga. FM arambicha kalathula, indha pattu rombo famous (Priyavin priyamana neram)
Malligai poove malligai poove pathaya - roja 'nadicha' padam

aayiram thamarai mootukkalae, aayiram malargalae malarungal, poo poothathu poojaikkaga dhan, solai pushpangalae, etc. etc.

haa! what a huge collection tamil songs have got!!
sooriya gandhi pathi yosicha, "suriya gandhi yennaiyile, super yennai idhu dhane"nu dokka advertisement pattu onnu nyabagathu vandhu vera yedhaiyum yosikka vida mattengudhu.

but indha songs yellam will have the starting word only associated with flowers.
so best poo song that has got the whole song about poo is
"poova poova poova poove" - our bokkai vaai jyothika in her best; and nithyashree as usual in her top pitch; nice music. not sure about unnikrishnan singing the same song.

my friend has just relocated from Mumbai. but still she is feeling home sick that she is flying often. she is not staying in any cook-gramam; but her house is located out of main streets that she also need to go for a 3 kms distance to do shoppings. and to the worse, she is not liking chennai shops much. (hmm.. kodhithu yela vendam chennaivaasigale) so she decided to buy something in mumbai but her hubs was always near her. like me, she also charted out a plan. (and yes, like me adhuvum sodhappikkichu) she decided to buy something in Mumbai airport. so she uttered a lie to hubs that she is going for a coffee and vanished. meanwhile her hub all of a sudden remembered that he has left out his Blazer at home. he is flying to Australia this week that he is desparate of the blazer. In the panic, he started searching for my friend. he walked over the shops and found our madam standing in a tie shop. hubs, already in confusion, got so puzzled that he went over and asked, "honey, you are buying coffee in tie shop????" and she immediately blurted "no dear, this is for the valentine's day"
gee.... that ended my friend's surprise also a FLOP SHOW. (join the team!!!)

She gave it to her hubs and he was really surprised (thank god). She went to refresh herself and when she returned, she realised that her hubs was still starring at the cake.

Snow in Chennai

Abhirami, Abhirami... Not the Guna's Abhirami, but the real Abhirami Theatre owners have come up with a Mall kinda complex in the Panicky Purasawalkam. This is not new, however - this was started sometime in mid of 2005 itself. But this is first time that we were visiting.

A small elevator that attracts children is fixed in the front. But there were many oldies also who enjoyed going by it! Our friend's daughter was overjoyed to go in it that she did it twice and she tripped down the Security. (Poor guy)
A huge Mummy kinda statue is standing in the center lobby (who is the architect, huh!) and around it are the restuarant's tables and chairs. ok, our aim was to go on to see the 'Snow in Chennai' as was advertised in 'The Hindu' (Madrasi's Times).

We paid a pretty higher amount as fee and were forced to remove our shoes; (Gosh, the friend's daughter was wearing a shoe that the parents took hours to remove and put back) they gave us boots and jerkins... gee.. me and my husband went back to our 'first' honeymoon at Kashmir!! but there is no zip in the jerkins.. sheepishly i turned to my hubby and he tried to locate a velcro and apdi ipdi yedagudama, ended up wearing the jerkin. again, it took hours to locate a perfect jerkin for the kid and to dress (?) her up! they gave us the gloves to wear. it was not proper gloves but the one that are used in chemical researches. i am sure we did stand stupid there in that costume, that too in hot madras! and then we waited for a few minutes against a room. (seem they are doing batch processing) meanwhile my husband and his friend was having a nice time in looking at the girls around. the friend's wife (realised very lately that i didnt know her name!!) was too busy talking over mobile - that left me with the kid. the kid's tamil was wonderful (her mother tounge was Telugu) so was enjoying it. suddenly my hubby at last realised my existence and came to me. chucks, the jacket's hood didnt fit me at all. ok, the bells rang and we were let in!

We entered a room that is of the size of single bedroom flat in Annanagar. it was fully covered with artificial snow.. err.. ice blocks... whatever! there were ACs fixed on the artificial ceiling. The walls were filled with plasters and thermocools. the temperature read as zero degree. it was damn cold within 5 minutes. because of the poor jacket, and my hood kept sliding - my ears went for a numbness immediately. the chemical factory gloves and boots were of not much help. my husband is used to these kinda chillness but I have never given a damn. the kid was also in pathetic situation! there was a small igloo(?) built in a corner. people were eager to enter and come out of it. but only few - without paunch could make it done. my husband who is six feet got stuck half the way. had a tough time pulling him out! there were sledges(?) kind of work put over. so sweet of my hubby to give me a push! :) the ice was a bit slippery that our friend fell down several times. Cameras were not allowed inside. but they had men who took snaps and that was only allowed (ways to earn money!!) Several took snaps and we also took one. (Later when we came out, we just escaped without getting the foto printed! :) ) could feel the feet and hands going frozen. hardly 15 minutes would have gone and they sent us out.

then we went to have our next loss - kids section. it costed 30 rupees for adults (who are just supporting their kid) and 50 rupees for kids. Inside there was again a small room with toys that any kid will play everyday in its school. our friend's kid is too timid to play anything. so it was just a waste of money. we came out and unfortunately sat down in a chair. my my!! there was atleast ten men who swarmed around us. each one from a different restuarant, each marketing their restuarants. we ended up with french fries that took away a 100 rupees.

ok, we did have a damn good time pass, but for this we ended up paying a huge sum. There are n number of ways to earn money, just that we are not aware of those.
But the Best one i really liked was a painting done in the center wall of the mall - that had the faces of all tamil actor-actresses starting from Bhagavathar to latest Simbu. But I couldnt identify several actresses in the list. There were few hindi and english faces too peeping from the corners.

This time something serious!!

After a long time, thought of adding something here. enter panni ulla pona, haa! yennoda previous kuppaikku 4 comments. yaaruda adhu pudhusa nnu patha, yaaro Rajesh aam (rombo mandai pola irukku) kevi kevi aladha koraiaya vendam niruthungannu kathi irukkaru. adappavi.. i never expected this nu nenachi, avaroda sitekku poi patha.. che che che... yenakku konjamum pudikkadha cricket pathi neraya yeludhi kaduppethi irukkaru. after going through his blogspot, i understood one thing - indha payyanukku (sorry Rajesh! :D) tamil puriyala.. adhuvum madras tamil suthama puriyala nnu! correcta?? ok.. he has really taken some pain in reading(?) my kuppai, so mannikkum vidhamaga, Rajesh, nenga.. nenga sandhosha padarathukkaga, am not writing Part II of the article (but that is not the truth - i dont know what else to be written, as usual marandhutten). (hello, devuda patta translate panrathukku ra ra patta translate panna paravalla, arthamavadhu puriyum) but blogspotnu onnu create panni adhula onnume yeludhalanna yepdi... so here we go now on to a serious side -

My brother has freeserver and has updated several things in it. Of that this particular article on the view of "Hindu religion" really attracted me.
I am sure most of the Hindus must be knowing about the 10 incarnations of Lord Vishnu. Here is a different view to it -
The objective of the stories of avatharas (incarnations) is not only to teach morals but also stories of evolution. We have so many theories that explain evolution of human beings. But in Hindu mythology, eons before, our forefathers have explained it in the form of Dasavathara.

Let us examine each of the avatharas in detail, from a completely different perspective, to understand what he was trying to say.

1. Mathsyavathara: In this avathar, Lord Vishnu is in the form of a Fish (Matsya). Long before, when Earth was much closer to the Sun, there were no possibilities of life. But when Earth was just far enough from the Sun, the first living creature evolved in Earth. And that is a Fish which lives deep beneath the Earth's surface, under the Ocean beds, where the powerful UV rays of Sun has very minimal or virtually no effect. So, according to Hindu mythology, the first living creature of the universe is a fish. Thats also how Mathsyavathara should be explained.

2. Kurmavathara: In this avathar, Lord Vishnu is in the form of a Turtle (Kurma). The process of evolution continues in Earth. Now, the fish which can only live under Earth's surface had now actually evolved into a Turtle, which can live both in the water and in the land. The process of evolution is so amazing that it had a hard shell to protect itself from the still powerful Sun rays. That way it was able to survive in the land too. Thats also how Kurmavathara should be explained.

3. Varahavathara: In this avathar, Lord Vishnu is in the form of a wild Boar (Varaha). Earth is still evolving. Now it has reached far away from the Sun that would be enough to have living beings on the surface alone. According to Hindu mythology, Boar must be one of the foremost significant land creature. Thats also how Varahavathara should be explained.

4. Narasimhavathara: In this avathar, Lord Vishnu is a Lion faced human with limbs like a Lion. Nara = Human and Simha = Lion thats how we got this name. Anyways, Earth is still evolving and this avathar depicts the transition from animals to humans. It is infact quite contradictory to Darwin's theory of humans from apes. Maybe, Narasimha is not exactly lion and human may be it was lion and ape. Anyways, the point was Earth has evolved to produce human beings. Thats also how Narasimhavathara should be explained.

5. Vamanavathara: In this avathar, Lord Vishnu is a midget. Earth has evolved and the first human being was a midget. This is in accordance to most of the Western myths. Thats also how Vamanavathara should be explained.

6. Parasuramavathara: Having explained the process of how human beings were evolved in the first 5 avathars, the next 5 avathars, explains how the mankind is going to evolve. In this avathar, Parasuram is a Brahmin (Priests or Teachers). Probably, our mythology was also trying to tell us how they have arrived at the Castisms. Now our mankind is full grown physically. This era is dedicated to Brahmins, who are basically responsible for acquiring knowledge. By acquiring knowledge, we were growing meta-physically in this era. This is an important part of our evolution. Thats also how Parasuramavathara should be explained.

7. Ramavathara: In this avathar, Lord Vishnu is a Kshathriya (Warrior). After acquiring the knowledge, warriors came into the picture to protect what we have. This era is dedicated to the warriors. This era must have brought the concept of Governments, Wars etc. This is also an important part of mankind evolution. Thats also how Ramavathara should be explained.

8. Balarama and 9. Krishnavathars: In this avathar, Lord Vishnu is a Baniya (Trader). After acquiring knowledge and protecting it, we got to use it. This era belongs to Traders. Traders used this ideal platform to move the mankind forward. This era must have brought the concept of economy. This is also an important part of our evolution. Thats also how these avatharas should be explained.

10. Kalkiavathara: According to Hindu mythology, this has not happened yet. But when it happens, Lord Vishnu will be a Sudhra (Worker). This era belongs to Sudhras, the worker bees of the human race. So, I think, we should stop cribbing about all the reservations for politically backward people as this era belongs to them, even according to the Hindu mythology.

Did he make any sense? According to me, "YES".

nyabaga maradhi

this is my first posting ever! i do not know the dos and donts. hence forgive me for any mistake i do. also that there will be a lot of tamil mixed up. and yes forgive me for all grammatical, spelling mistakes. now to the point - nyabaga maradhi.

well i am so forgetful that i forget everything. it is not that gajini surya's short term memory. but that i forget things just like that. i keep a log of "to-dos" but will forget to see that list. to remember i keep adding reminders in my office inbox and my mobile. but i seldom see the alerts.

i infact wrote a poem about this nyabagamaradhi - in english, but who remembers it now! unless i have saved it somewhere it is very difficult for me to utter it again. but i dont remember if i have saved it and where i have saved it. idhanala no one believes me that i have written the poem myself! yellam neram!

MCA exams were the best! i prepared, as usual in the last minute, for the exams. night 1 mani varaikkum, kathala 6 manike (lifela diwalikku mattum dhan avlo seekram yelundhuppen) yelundhu prepare pannikkuven. but the minute i go to the exam hall and see the question paper - everything goes blank. pakkathula irukkaravnga yellam rombo mummurama exam yeludhuvanga, nan mattum thiru thirunu ukkandhuruppen. yedhavadhu nyabagam vandha dhane yeludharathuku! invigilator vera pakkathula vandhu morachittu povanga. uncle invigilators yellam apdi panna mattange, aunties or youngsters kandippa morappanga - yen muga raasi appdi!
but ivvlo yeludhara andha pasanga velila vandha vudane keppen "yepdi exam yeludhi irukkeenga"; the reply will come - "sariyave yeludhala". vivek stylela 'adappavi, sariya yeludhadhukke full 3 hours thevai pattudha unakku, innum ne sariya yeludhi irundha??' pulambikkuven. but anga dhan vidhi velayadidum. maangu maangunu padichi yeludina pasanga yellam oothikkittanga. nanum yenga settum pass!!! first attemptlaye pass-o-pass!

engagement ana pudhusula, my then fiancee's face was not familiar for me. i had some picture in my mind that is relatively close to his looks. Gosh! it really took atleast 3 months for me to remember his face.

ippo while writing this article also, i am sitting for hours together and writing up otherwise will forget and will never get the flow.

i used to say a big "HI" to a person and then turn around to my mom or husband to ask who he or she was! indha madhiri mugam theriyama hi solli yekkachakkama arattai adichittu apram dhan i will realise - i have never met that person in my life. a similar event happened in my marriage. there was one aunty came with full enthu and said a big Hi, Congrats, etc. i thought i knew her and kept talking to her. avanga medaiya vittu keela yerangave illa. she kept advicing me on various things. Yeeks! i got stuck when she started telling a thing which is not at all a custom in our tradition. then i realised that i **really** didnt know her. then i thought my husband might have known her. i turned around to him and shocked when he asked me "who was she". then i turned around to my mother to check with her and yes u guessed it right, she also asked me "avanga maappillaikku urava" then all of us starred at her and she went down the medai with much confusions in her face. then later the next day my neice, who was standing next to me during marriage - one to get herself snapped in fotos, second to collect the gifts from me - told me that she saw that aunty in the mandap that was a different one located in upstairs.

now for this blog also, i forget the user name and password - yenna adhu rombo common dhane solreengala? hmm.. i already have created a blog spot for myself. adhu yennanne marandhu pochu.

((i only wish that my supervisor does not see this and wonder why there is always a delay from this girl on her works!))

but the thing i never forget - music tunes and lyrics of cinema songs! god knows how i am remembering them, but i do. if not the entire lyrics i remember the tune and will do sondha saahithyam to fill the gap. my generation guyz and gals tell me: have u ever heard of a song - "kaattu raani koattaiyile, kadhavugal illai" or "koovamal koovum gokilam"?? i know songs to that extent and also "suttum vizhi sudare". do i sing? yes i do. can people hear if i sing? well, that is a million dollar question!! people who have heard me humming slowly to myself has admitted that i do sing a bit, but on the other hand, vaaya thorandhu paadinaa.... my brother used to tease me with the famous song "vaadi yen kappa kelanga, padadha vaaya thorandhe". but he sings well u know. now a days he is concentrating on keyboard. he has tried out several songs in keyboard and really has done very well. now, that reminds me of the extraordinary talent that my appa and brother has got - that is changing the entire lyrics of a song and sing - more or less like a gana song. they not only change it but keep singing the changed lyric only that i will forget the original song. here i have to admit that my appa, amma, akka, anna are all really good singers. but my hubby is the only person who encourages me to sing and he is patient enough to hear me singing. thank you hubby!! :) but in this cinema songs also, when there is going to be repetitions in the lyrics, i will forget what should come when. sample songs - "chennai pattanam" - it all ends with "kasu", so i get confused; "nyabagam varudhe" - too much listings to remember. but andha nyabagam varudhe paattu is a total failure in my case - i seldom remember anything!

chinna chinna vishayam yellam nan rombo easya marandhuduven. but if there is any kadan that has to come - adhu marakkadhu yennaku. anything anyone has done - will not forget that. basica adhellam marandhu pona, yennoda maradhikku oru alagu varum. Praying god that either i recover entirely from this nyabagamaradhi or sholuld selectively forget things. ok, i have written a lot. yennoda chinna brainkku ivlo dhan yettudhu, will write another interesting article later. bye for now!
